Veterinarians
Jeffrey Luntz, DVM
Dr. Luntz has been caring for patients at the Animal Medical Hospital of Belair Road since it opened in 1980. One of two original owners, he became the sole owner in 1987.
Dr. Luntz' strong affinity for medical subjects and his love of animals is what guided him to become a veterinarian, and after working for a summer at an animal hospital, his fate was sealed. He likes to solve medical mysteries and enjoys the satisfaction he gets from watching a family greet their once-ill pet whom he has treated.
A native of Baltimore County, Dr. Luntz attended the University of Maryland, where he obtained a Bachelor's of Science in Psychology in 1968. He then received his veterinary education from the University of the Phillipines and the University of Illinois, from which he graduated in 1973. Dr. Luntz' professional interests include internal medicine and dermatology.
Dr. Luntz is married to Maripat, a registered veterinary technician at the Animal Medical Hospital, and together they have three adult children, Craig, Jaime and Kathleen. They share their home with two Giant Schnauzers, Ali and Corey, and a Siberian Husky / Poodle mix named Rufus. In his spare time, Dr. Luntz is an avid gardener and reader of United States history books. He is a member of the Greater Baltimore Veterinary Medical Association, the Maryland Veterinary Medical Association, the American Veterinary Medical Association and the American Animal Hospital Association and has been an adjunct professor in the veterinary technology program at Baltimore Community College. He is also a founding partner and past president of PET+ER, a 24-hour emergency and critical care veterinary hospital in Baltimore, where he currently sits on the Board of Directors.
